Why We Have Closed Our Branches In Clay Cross & Bolsover 10th September 2020

Covid 19 has taken the world by storm, and changed the way that every person and business operates to ensure that everybody's health and safety is maintained at all times.

Back in March, we were told as an industry to close our doors and work from home. House sale transactions pretty much ground to a halt as the Government froze removals and viewings.

During lockdown, we looked at our own operations to see if there were things that could be improved when the market re-opened. With it being our 50th year of serving the people of Chesterfield, we had plenty of time to consider how the next 50 years would look. With that in mind, we have taken the decision to close the branches for the following reasons:

  • Footfall within the two branches over the last couple of years has fallen dramatically, even though visits to our main Glumangate office remain consistent.
  • Whilst footfall has fallen, telephone and e mail enquiries have risen significantly in recent years. With all our properties (branch and Chesterfield) now managed from a fully staffed Glumangate office, a more consistent level of coverage can be provided.
  • We continue to invest heavily in online advertising, specifically with Rightmove, Zoopla, Prime Location, On The Market and through our own website at www.wilkins-vardy.co.uk
  • Both the Clay Cross and Bolsover offices were difficult buildings to allow visitors whilst complying with Covid regulations.
  • A recent survey of some of our Bolsover and Clay Cross clients revealed that many actually preferred having their property managed and displayed in our Glumangate office.
  • The closures will allow us to invest more heavily in technology. Recently we have invested in state of the art telephone and computer systems and camera technology including a state of the art 3D camera which produces amazing walk through tours. We also utilise targeted HTML e mail campaigns to reach out to people like you.
  • We are able to cover Clay Cross and Bolsover from our Chesterfield branch without any problems.
  • We have managed to keep the majority of our staff employed on the same basis as they were before lockdown. We strongly believe that whilst technology advances, we are still very much a 'people' business.

Since lockdown, we have been operating out of Glumangate, with our full team safely set up within our head office. We have already seen the results of a well planned return to work operation and new marketing packages, selling more properties in Chesterfield, Clay Cross and Bolsover than any other agent for the last three consecutive months.

'Covid 19 has made everyone think in new and innovative ways about how we conduct our lives and operate as businesses. We see this as an opportunity to improve and ensure that we are still a trusted and respected local business for the next 50 years, as we have been for the last 50' Managing Director Dan Elliott, BSc (Hons) MRICS
